The advantages of wearable devices

A device (Scanner, PDA or Tablet) will offer its maximum performance if “guided” by an application that is able to correctly interpret the Customer’s process. OM-Link is the web based application developed by Open Mind which, specifically customized for each process and for each Customer, allows operators to be guided with specific simple, intuitive graphic interfaces that allow time to be reduced and operational errors to be eliminated.

Wearable scanners

The latest generation wearable scanners offer unparalleled performances compared to “old” wired scanners or with obsolete optics.

Depending on your needs, they are available in basic versions or with integrated displays, with short range or medium/long range optics, with batteries that allow you to satisfy low-intensive operations or very intensive operations (over 10,000 scans on one charge).

They are normally connected via Bluetooth to PDA or Tablet which receive the readings performed. Wearable PDAs that allow operators to work hands-free are preferred. In the case of the Zebra WS50, however, we have an “all in one” device that integrates, in addition to the scanner, a PDA with a 2-inch, full color and touch display with Android operating system.

With these scanners you can reduce scanning times by up to 4 seconds per read. They also provide direct feedback to the user via optical, tactile and acoustic signals, helping to eliminate errors and improve the overall quality of the process.

The possibility of interacting with other wearable devices, long-lasting batteries, touchscreen displays and shock resistance make it a tool that cannot be missing from the warehouse and logistics 4.0.

Tablet

In the event that a tablet cannot be worn on the wrist or forearm, for reasons of comfort, safety, or both, but must remain in the hands of pickers, mounted on forklifts, or on carts, and there is a need for a High resistance to shocks, falls and water, Rugged Tablets are the best solution.

They are much more resistant than common tablets on the market, they have a magnesium frame to protect the internal components from impacts and an additional external elastomer casing to cushion the impact force. They are waterproof and water resistant to minimize the risk of breakage, they are specifically made to be used in hostile environments and to last longer.

Depending on the models, they offer specific features to satisfy every type of need, such as the possibility of replacing the battery in Hot Swap mode to guarantee unlimited operational continuity.
